Donations and Giving

Why does Doncaster Minster need your money?

We need funds so that we can maintain this wonderful building and secure it for future generations, not only as a place of worship, but also a space for art, music and a wide range of community activity.

Doncaster Minster normally relies upon donations and regular giving to keep it open for all to use and enjoy. It costs over £2,000 a week to run the Minster. We do not receive financial support from the Government or the Diocese. We raise funds through our own efforts and the generosity and support of our visitors, congregation and the wider Minster Community.

During this difficult time when the Minster has been closed, we cannot receive all the donations that would usually be given, so we really need your help now.

The Minster may be operating on a limited basis, but we are still a church seeking to serve Doncaster; meeting virtually for prayer services and fellowship, loving our neighbours by offering practical support to the vulnerable, and caring for our communities.

The work of our church is reliant on people’s generosity, a generosity that is a hallmark of a lived-out faith and a testament to it.

Toilets and Tea Point

Our next major project is to install much-needed toilets and a Tea Point in the Minster, basic facilities which have been sadly lacking

If you have ever visited the Minster, taken part in a service or an event at the Minster you will know how vital these facilities will be to making the Minster a more welcoming place.

We are delighted that we have received permission to go ahead and install the Toilets and a Tea Point.

To do this we need £235,000 and have launched an appeal to raise the additional funds to finance the project.

We are pleased that we have already received donations totalling £169,492.72   this includes major donations from an Anonymous Donor, All Churches Trust, The Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation, Beatrice Laing Foundation and Friends of Doncaster Minster as well as many other donations from visitors, members of the minster community and collections taken at events in the Minster by Doncaster Choral Society, The Rotary Club and donations by the Co-operative from the memorial tree.

Please help us to raise the remaining £56,257.28 by making a donation here:

Minster Restoration Project.

In 2004, the Minster started a programme of restoration and repair to help maintain the Grade 1 Listed Building for present and future generations.

Work has been undertaken on repairs to lead roofs, stained glass, woodwork and masonry on the Chancel, Forman Chapel, South Porch and North Transept the High Altar reredos but there is much work still to be undertaken.

So far, some £3M has been spent on repairs to stonework, windows and roofs.

Our next phase is the installation of toilets and a refreshment facility before we embark on planning a new major restoration project that includes repairs to the Minster Tower, re-ordering in the Minster and developing the Community Hall and the adjacent site
