Accessibility Policy

Doncaster Minster recognises the importance of making all its digital services available to the largest possible audience. In keeping with its obligations under legislation, Doncaster Minster, working with Mirata Ltd  (our website provider and host),  will ensure that its media is accessible to people who have visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments.

Accessibility is a partnership between site producers like Doncaster Minster, site hosts Mirata and the creators of the operating system, browser, and specialist assistive technologies which many disabled users employ to allow them, for example, to view websites in easier-to-read colours, with larger fonts, or as spoken text.

As such technologies become more available and sophisticated, Doncaster Minster and Mirata will:

  • Ensure that its media works well with these assistive technologies to ensure an accessible experience for disabled users
  • Guide users in customising their computers (either by explaining the accessibility features of their operating system or browser, or by introducing them to the range of assistive technologies which are available) to provide them with the most accessible web experience, not just for Doncaster Minster resources but all websites

Doncaster Minster and Mirata Ltd will also work with those in the wider accessibility community to support the future development of these technologies and the standards that allow all websites to be created to work best with them.

In those instances where the specific accessibility needs of some disabled user groups require us to create new or re-purposed editorial content, we will do this, wherever appropriate, so that we become more inclusive to a wider audience online.

To ensure that we meet accessibility requirements we continually review our site and modify pages to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Most documents on our web sites are accessible to people who use screen reading software and to those with other vision or mobility impairments.

Some digital services are primarily graphics or multimedia driven, and this can pose problems for blind and visually impaired users. Where this is the case we will provide alternative content and formats where requests are made to the e-mail address to: office@doncasterminster.org.uk

Although Doncaster Minster cannot guarantee that all users regardless of disability can access our information or services, we can guarantee that any user who cannot access our information will be offered assistance by our team to do so.

Please contact us at the e-mail address at: Doncaster Minster if you require special support to access any of our services or information.
