Why does Doncaster Minster need your money?

We need funds so that we can maintain this wonderful building and secure it for future generations, not only as a place of worship, but also a space for art, music and a wide range of community activity.

Doncaster Minster normally relies upon donations and regular giving to keep it open for all to use and enjoy. It costs over £2,000 a week to run the Minster. We do not receive financial support from the Government or the Diocese. We raise funds through our own efforts and the generosity and support of our visitors, congregation and the wider Minster Community.

The work of our church is reliant on people’s generosity, a generosity that is a hallmark of a lived-out faith and a testament to it.

Good News and Thank You  – Target Achieved

Toilets and Tea Point Servery for the Minster

The Covid Pandemic was a very difficult time and challenging one for everyone, but despite that, we are delighted to say that, during that period, we reached our funding target for the new toilets and refreshment facilities. We received the necessary permissions, and in July 2021 work started on the project. Despite shortages and delays we were able to operate the new facilities from the 7th May 2022.

However, we are absolutely delighted and grateful that so many people have had faith in our project.

Our backers include many people who donated what they could afford, both small and large amounts, to our crowd funding appeal.

In addition to this we have received support from a range of funding organisations that have allocated grants ranging from £50,000 to £1780. These include:
