Special Services

The Minster, as the main Anglican Church in Doncaster, is often asked to organise or host a range of special Diocesan, Civic and other significant services, such as:

    • the Annual Archdeacon’s Visitation Service when Churchwardens take the oath of office;
    • the Celebration of lay Ministries when Readers, Pastoral workers, Worship Leaders and other lay ministers are licensed by the Bishop;
    • and the Doncaster Civic Service to celebrate the appointment of the new Civic Mayor.

    There are also special services for major Christian festivals.

    Sometimes we are also asked to host spectacular services such as the South Yorkshire Legal Service.

Forthcoming Special Services

Sunday 12th November

10.55am There will be a Time of Prayer for people unable to attend at the War Memorial in Bennetthorpe. This will include two minutes silence at 11.00 am.

11.45am  Remembrance Service

The exact time of the start of the service will depend on the arrival, at the Minster, of the civic representatives and the Armed Forces from the War Memorial. They will process through the town, following an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Bennetthorpe at 11.00am.

An occasion to join together to remember those who have fallen or served in the service of their country.
