“From Gethsemane to the Grave”
Devotional Lectures for Lent on the Passion of Jesus in the Gospels
Lecture 2: The Gospel of Luke and the Faithful Innocence of Jesus
In his providence, God has given us not one Gospel account of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, but four. Each of the four has a distinctive angle on the Gospel story, and this is especially true of the way in which each reports the final hours of the Lord’s life, from the moment of his arrest in the garden of Gethsemane to the moment of his burial in the tomb.
During Lent, the Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Dr Pete Wilcox, will be delivering a series of four devotional lectures entitled ‘From Gethsemane to the Grave’, in which he will draw out the particular flavour of each ‘passion narrative’ in turn, and its significance for followers of Jesus today. Each 45 minute lecture will begin at 7.30pm and will be followed directly by a brief service of Night Prayer, finishing at around 8.30pm.
Refreshments will be served from 7.00 – 7.25pm prior to the lecture. All are welcome.
